The Oregon zoo lives a male sea otter named Eddie. In 2013, he was diagnosed with arthritis of the elbow joints. The zoo staff decided to teach an otter to play with the ball to prevent the development of arthritis. The fact is that while you are swimming otters help yourself hind legs, but almost never involves the front paws.
At first Eddie just caught the ball and then learned to throw it into the ring. Volunteers took video of his first successes in basketball and published them on YouTube. So Eddie became a star.
In 2017 Eddie was 19. And he continues to play basketball!
