The presence of international observers on the border between Russia and Ukraine will not save the inhabitants of Donbass from the deadly threat, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. His words TASS reports on Friday, October 20.

“It is clear that observers can follow the armed forces of Ukraine, can be followed not only they, but also groups of extremists, well known for his inhuman actions, and here nobody is insured from the start of the next tragic event,” — said Peskov.

Press Secretary of the President agreed that independent monitoring could have saved Moscow from accusations that she is the aggressor, but added that the interests of the inhabitants beyond that. “Well, then still, let’s not forget that, again, in this case, our source are Minsk agreements, the provisions that are specified, and the sequence of these positions is also critically important in terms of the sequence let’s not forget that access to the border someone else is, in fact, one of the last points,” he added.

On the eve of the meeting of the international discussion club “Valdai” Russian President expressed concern that the closure of the border between Russia and the breakaway people’s republics in Eastern Ukraine could lead to a massacre.

In mid-September, the U.S. state Department declared that peacekeeping forces in the zone of armed conflict in the Donbass should be placed, in particular, on the Russian-Ukrainian border.
