The Kremlin is interested in development of dialogue with Saudi Arabia, said the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov in anticipation of the arrival of king Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud to Moscow. “Our main hope is that this visit will give new impetus to development of bilateral relations, because the potential of our relationship much richer than the de facto situation”, — said Peskov.

The press Secretary also noted the important role of Saudi Arabia “in Arab and inter-Arab Affairs.” “Certainly, Russia is interested to maintain a dialogue, including within the discussion of the situation in the Middle East and in Syria in particular,” he added.

King Salman will visit Moscow in early October, the Kremlin is preparing for the visit, said Peskov.

In February last year, Salman bin Abdul-Aziz al Saud told Russian President Vladimir Putin during a telephone conversation that Saudi Arabia supports prisoners the U.S.-Russia agreement on the ceasefire in Syria.

Saudi Arabia is the largest oil producer within OPEC.
