Yuri Nikulin was reared in a family of actors. During the great Patriotic war he participated in battles near Leningrad. After the victory Nikulin tried to do to VGIK, but eventually enrolled in the Studio clowning at the Moscow circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard. Later he became an assistant to the then-popular clown of the Pencil. Later Yuri Nikulin starred in the movie. In the native circus Yuri worked for 50 years.
