Saratov politician Vyacheslav Maltsev who escaped from Russia after being accused of appeals to extremism, to seek political asylum in France. On Tuesday, September 12, reports TASS citing a source familiar with the situation.

According to the interlocutor of the Agency, at the moment, the opposition is in Paris. According to him, Maltsev originally planned to seek asylum at the French Embassy in Israel, but realized that there it will be harder. “Therefore, Maltsev made the decision to fly to Montenegro and from there to transit through France in Morocco,” the source said, adding that the opposition was in a European country illegally.

July 4, member of the organizing Committee of the movement “New Opposition” Denis Romanov has informed that Vyacheslav Maltsev has left the territory of Russia.

In June Maltsev was given 10 days of administrative arrest for disobeying lawful demands of the police at an unsanctioned rally in Central Moscow on June 12. A day earlier in his house in the Moscow region Investigative Committee conducted a search within the criminal case under article 318 of the criminal code (“violence against a representative of power”).

In April, an opposition activist was also arrested for 15 days for disobedience to police. Then it was due to an unsanctioned rally in Moscow on March 26.
