Victor Torlopov
Basmanny court of Moscow has left under house arrest the former head of the Komi Republic and former Senator from the Republic of Viktor Torlopova, pleaded guilty in the case about the organization and leadership of a criminal community and fraud at several billion rubles. On Monday, August 4, reports “Interfax”.
“The court concludes that the petition of the investigation shall be satisfied. Extend the period of detention of the accused Torlopova for up to 6 October” — is listed in the court order.
The investigator motivated the petition that Torlopov when you change to it measures of restraint for a more lenient may attempt to escape, and also to exert pressure on witnesses. The term of the preliminary investigation was extended until 18 October, the Agency said.
Torlopov is the article is accused of creating and leadership, together with its successor as the head of the region Vyacheslav Gaiser and other accomplices in the crime community (part 3 of article 210 of the criminal code). In addition, he was charged with fraud in especially large size the organised group with use of his official position (part 4 of article 159 of the criminal code) and money laundering obtained by criminal means (part 4 of article 174.1 of the criminal code).
6 Oct 2016 Torlopov fully admitted his guilt.
Torlopov headed the region from 2001 to 2010. In this position he was replaced by Gaiser, and he went to the Federation Council as the representative from Executive power of the Republic.
Gaiser and former officials from the administration of the Republic, as well as entrepreneurs, just 19 people were arrested in September 2015.
