The attorney General of Brazil filed charges against two former presidents of the country

The chief Federal Prosecutor of Brazil’s Rodrigo Janot sent to the Supreme court a request for presentation of accusations against the ex-presidents of the Republic, Dilma Rousseff and Luiz inĂ¡cio Lula da Silva. According to the Globo channel, they are suspected of organizing a criminal community.

The prosecution believes that the suspects from 2002 to 2016 “has committed many crimes, mainly against public administration”.

12 Jul Lula da Silva was found guilty of corruption and money laundering. He was sentenced to 9,5 years of imprisonment.

27 June Janet filed charges against incumbent President Michel Temer in receiving a bribe. Temer, who had been Vice President, became head of state in 2016, after the impeachment of Rousseff. It is expected that he will govern the country until January 1, 2019.

In 2014, the Brazilian law enforcement authorities initiated an investigation regarding corruption in the state oil and gas company Petrobras. As a result of investigations, it was revealed that after the arrival of da Silva to power were organized corruption scheme in which construction companies won contracts on major projects for Petrobras, paying kickbacks to its top managers and transferring money to the ruling workers ‘ Party to Finance its political campaigns.
