The Governor of California announced plans to expand cooperation with Russia

Jerry Brown

California Governor Jerry brown said he wants to expand the possibilities of cooperation in the region and the United States with Russia and other countries of the Pacific region. This he said on the sidelines of the Eastern economic forum in Vladivostok, reports RIA Novosti.

According to him, he came to the forum because “California is the Pacific economy. The current discussion will lead to the rapprochement of the peoples of the Pacific region, he stressed. Through trade, through business communications, through investment and cultural exchanges we can create new opportunities for cooperation, minimize threats — terrorism, climate, nuclear proliferation”.

The politician said that he plans to meet with representatives of the DPRK.

Brown declined to comment on the situation with the closure of the Russian Consulate General in San Francisco, as I have arrived at the economic forum, and governments diplomatic moves outside its competence. “I’d rather focus on the positive possibilities of interaction that you plan to discuss during my visit,” said he, “Interfax”.

“This forum is of great importance, both symbolic and humanitarian, economic, and I’m glad to take part in it”, — said the Governor.

WEF 2017 is held in Vladivostok from 6 to 7 September. The forum was attended by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, South Korean President moon Jae-In and President of Mongolia Khaltmagiin Battulga.
