The number of centenarians has increased
As of January this year, live in Russia 15.7 million people born 100 or more years ago that nearly a thousand people more than the corresponding figure in 2016. This is evidenced by the data of Rosstat, which acquainted “Izvestia”.
So, according to statistics, from January 2016 to January 2017, the number of centenarians (100 years and more) in the country increased by 923 people and reached 15 704 people (2014 and 2015 growth was 600 people). The majority of centenarians were women (12 million) and almost all (9 million) live in the city.
According to doctor of historical Sciences, Professor of Moscow state University Andrey Korotaev, the increase in the number of centenarians is quite natural.
