Thirty-ninth U.S. President, Democrat Jimmy Carter described the current political system in the United States as the “oligarchy.” With such statement the former President spoke on Wednesday at the headquarters of the “Carter Center” in Atlanta (GA), according to the Associated Press (AP).
According to 92-year-old policy, money plays an increasing role in the political life of the United States that make the country look like “the oligarchy, not democracy.” “You keep the peace, promote human rights and speak the truth” — such policy recommendations gave Carter.
In his speech he touched upon the crisis on the Korean Peninsula. “I would have immediately sent their man in Pyongyang, if it did not go there myself,” said Carter, Recalling that he was in North Korea three times. According to him, Pyongyang is looking for assurances of non-aggression from the United States, and the administration of President Donald trump is a confrontation. “Until we talk to them and will treat them with respect as human beings that they are, will not, I think, no progress,” said Carter.
