The liberal opposition received about 15 percent of the seats in the Metropolitan municipalities according to the results of elections in Moscow on September 10. On Wednesday, September 13, reported RIA Novosti the Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for civil society development (Fargo) Konstantin Kostin.
He recalled that 77% of the mandates went to the party “United Russia”. “The second result is, in my opinion, it is certainly not a victory, as many of the media / liberal coalition, but its obvious success, it is clear that 15 percent of the seats in the municipalities of the city of Moscow the opposition gets — probation — is “Yabloko”, “Solidarity”, Association Dmitry Gudkov and so forth,” — said Kostin.
According to him, the political future of this coalition is still a big question. “But, nevertheless, even the fact that during the election they were able to unite and work together, this is a great achievement, which was expected by their supporters more than ten years”, — said the head of Fargo.
He also added that against this background, especially notable is the failure of the candidates from the parliamentary opposition, which in the end received only 3 per cent of the seats. “This, of course, very little,” — said Kostin.
The Agency adds that the leaders of the parliamentary parties — Gennady Zyuganov (KPRF), Sergei Mironov (a just Russia) and Vladimir Zhirinovsky (LDPR) — have recognized the “greater legitimacy” of the elections and their good organization. According to them, CEC and law enforcement agencies cope with the job and promptly respond to reports of violations during the campaign that ensured the transparency and integrity of voting.
