Russia and Turkey have prepared the decision on the supply of tomatoes from November 1
Earlier it was planned to enable Turkey to deliver to Russia of 50 thousand tons of tomatoes from four companies since the beginning of December.
Moscow. 21 Oct. INTERFAX.RU — Russia and Turkey have prepared the decision on the supply of Turkish tomatoes in the amount of 50 thousand tons on 1 November, said Minister of energy of Russia Alexander Novak on Saturday after the Russian-Turkish intergovernmental Commission.
We also discussed the issues of removing barriers of trade and economic cooperation, the issue of lifting restrictions, including export of tomatoes from Turkey to Russia. Earlier Novak said that Russia from December 1, planned to allow the supply of tomatoes in this volume with four Turkish companies.
Tomato sanctions
Russia banned vegetables and fruits from Turkey as from 1 January 2016, after November 2015, the skies over Syria Turkish fighter jet shot down a Russian su-24 bomber. The restrictions are gradually removed, banned still only supply of tomatoes. Until January 1, 2016, they were the main source of Turkish vegetable export to Russia.
Restrictions on the supply of agricultural commodities from Turkey enter the Rosselkhoznadzor.
Prior to the ban Turkey has exported to Russia about 360 thousand tons of tomatoes per year.
On 9 October Ankara imposed the order in accordance with which the Russian suppliers have to confirm to the Embassy and Turkish consulates invoices for Russian goods. These requirements apply to supplies of soft wheat, sunflower oil, corn, peas, rice, sunflower meal, of durum wheat.
Turkey is one of the largest buyers of Russian grain.
