Abe: North Korea has developed missiles capable of reaching Europe
TOKYO, 31 Oct. /TASS/. North Korea has developed Intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of reaching the territory of Europe, said Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Tokyo.
“(The DPRK) has developed Intercontinental ballistic missiles that can reach Europe. This is a serious threat facing the entire international community” — led the Agency Kyodo.
Following the talks, Abe reiterated that “at the moment we need to strengthen to the maximum pressure, not the (lead) dialogue to force North Korea to abandon its nuclear and missile programs.” I heard this suggestion and following the meeting with Stoltenberg heads the Ministry of foreign Affairs and the Ministry of defense of Japan, Taro Kono and Itsunori Onodera.
In a joint statement, Prime Minister of Japan and the NATO Secretary General demanded the DPRK to stop its nuclear missile program, and member countries of the UN called upon “to comply fully and transparently with the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council”.
During the talks, Abe and Stoltenberg discussed the situation in the East China and South China seas.
“We confirm that oppose unilateral coercive action that can change the status quo and increase tensions,” — said in the press service of the foreign Ministry of Japan document.
