The United States refused to give Moscow access to the Consulate General of Russia in San Francisco

The American authorities refused to grant Russian diplomats access to the building of the Consulate General in San Francisco, so that they could take from him the consular files. This was reported in Facebook the Russian Embassy in Washington.

“Instead, they independently Packed and transported him to Washington. This was done in spite of repeated protests from the Russian foreign Ministry and the Embassy. On 23 October, the archive was transferred to the Embassy”, — said Russian diplomats.

“The consular archives and documents are inviolable at any time and regardless of their location. By their actions the American side once again grossly violated the relevant provisions of the Vienna Convention on consular relations and the bilateral consular Convention,” said the Embassy.

In addition, the report says that “dismissive attitude of Washington to international law, our diplomatic and consular facilities and property opened the possibility of similar treatment of the representations of the USA in Russia”.

On 11 October Russian flags were torn from the buildings of the Russian Consulate in San Francisco and sales offices in Washington. In the US version, these objects are deprived of diplomatic immunity. In Moscow, in turn, called the incident an outrage and said about the unacceptability of such actions, as the Consulate General, despite the closure, is still the property of Russia.
