The US state Department admitted for the first time the use of chemical weapons in Syria, various terrorist groups. This is stated in a special warning to American citizens posted on the Agency’s website.
“”Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia), “Hayat Tahrir al-sham” and other extremist groups use suicide bombers, (…) light and heavy weapons, improvised explosive devices and chemical weapons”, — the document says.
The report also indicated that the most active terrorists are showing in the provinces of Damascus, Aleppo, Hama, Dara, HOMS, Idlib and Deir-ez-Zor. “Because of the security situation in Syria, the ability of the U.S. government to help U.S. citizens kidnapped or taken hostage is very limited,” reminded the foreign Ministry.
August 17, Russia’s envoy to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia said about the need to check the information about the supply of UK and US chemical weapons to terrorist groups fighting in Syria.
Nebesa argues that, if the statements of Damascus on produced and trapped the militants chemical ammunition is confirmed, it would be a violation of the Convention on the prohibition of chemical weapons.
A day earlier, Deputy foreign Minister of Syria, Faisal Miqdad said that in the liberated areas of the Eastern suburbs of Damascus and Aleppo were found hand grenades and a grenade launcher filled with irritating poisonous substances CS or CN. According to him, ammunition was produced by the American company Federal Laboratories, and chemical compounds — Cherming defense UK British and NonLethal Technologies in USA.
