Novosibirsk, the library was fined for access to sites with drug

Library named after V. I. Dahl in Novosibirsk fined on 20 thousand rubles for access to the sites for the sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, according to the website of the regional Prosecutor’s office. The audit revealed that the institution via the Internet could also read the materials recognized as extremist by the court.

The Prosecutor’s office brought an administrative case under part 2 of article 6.17 of the code of administrative offences (“Violation of legislation on protection of children from information harmful to their health and development”).

The Ministry said that four officers suffered disciplinary action. Leaders of the library and its branch made representations about elimination of the revealed violations.

In June 2017, former Director of the Library of Ukrainian literature Natalia Sharina was sentenced to four years probation in the case of extremism and embezzlement. According to the materials of the case, the visitors of the institutions had access to extremist literature. It was about 25 books, including the works of Ukrainian nationalist Dmitry Korchynsky.
