Deputy Russian Prosecutor General Ivan Semchishin has approved the indictment on criminal case concerning two inhabitants of Irkutsk, involved in the trade of “Hawthorn”. On Friday, October 13, reported on the Agency’s website.
According to prosecutors, in December 2016 individual entrepreneur and the seller in a shopping pavilion of the Sverdlovsk district of Irkutsk marketed to inhabitants of nearby houses cosmetic lotions “Sage”, “Hawthorn” and concentrate for bathing “Hawthorn”, containing methyl alcohol.
“The victims are alone or together with friends used dangerous to life and health products that do not meet safety requirements and containing methyl alcohol, with the result that eight people died”, — stated in the message.
Women are accused of committing a crime under part 3 of article 238 of the Russian criminal code (storage and sale of produce not satisfying the requirements of safety of life or health of consumers committed by a group of persons upon a preliminary collusion, entailed on imprudence death of the consumers). A criminal case will be directed for consideration to Sverdlovsk district court of Irkutsk.
In December 2016, in Irkutsk there was a mass poisoning “Hawthorn”, killed 78 people. In the region declared a state of emergency. The defendants in the case of the mass poisoning began more than ten people. In February, the charges of involvement in the incident was removed from the head of the Department precinct police Department №4 of Irkutsk.
After the poisoning, the Federal service banned the sale of such “Hawthorn” alcohol-containing liquids. On 9 October the ban period has expired.
