The tragedy in Las Vegas caused a wave of fake news
Google and Facebook were once again the target of criticism in connection with the publication of fake news, this time about the mass shooting guests of the festival, country-music Route 91 Harvest in Las Vegas on October 2.

In the search engines and social networks there appeared a lot of publications with knowingly false information on Steven Paddock, opened fire at the festival. The publication managed to pass through automated filters Google and Facebook and has been read by hundreds of thousands of users before they managed to remove.
Most of the fake publications originated on news sites, supporters of the extreme right political forces. The author of one of them without any reference to the sources of information stated that shooting people is allegedly a resident of Nevada Geary, Durnley, a Democrat by conviction, who hates President trump.

Since this publication appeared before the U.S. government issued an official statement with the actual name of the shooter, it is widely dispersed in the networks. In particular, she kept a few hours on the page “Crisis response” in Facebook through which users can find their relatives and friends if they were near the scene of the tragedy.

In other fake articles claimed that Paddock-fascist, and the authors of one of the pages, allegedly belonging to the movement of anti-fascists have claimed responsibility for organizing the shooting, saying that the Paddock was to “destroy the fascist dogs trump”.

However, many of these fake news pop up in the search results on Google. Not without problems, and Twitter, whose search results are also featured publication of alleged supporters of banned Islamic state group, which also took responsibility for the shooting in Las Vegas.
