State Department: US does not seek regime change in North Korea and not looking for an excuse to invade

UN 3 Oct. /TASS/. The United States is trying to find a diplomatic solution to the situation around the DPRK and do not seek to change the regime in Pyongyang or to invade the country.

This was stated on Tuesday by acting assistant Secretary of state for arms control Anita Fret at the General debate of the 1st Committee of the UN General Assembly. The text of her speech distributed by the press service of the world organization.

“The United States continues to seek a diplomatic solution to this crisis and do not seek to change the regime in North Korea, to overthrow it, to achieve rapid reunification of the Peninsula, and not looking for an excuse to send troops North of the demilitarized zone. At the same time, the United States will ensure the safety of themselves and their allies. We will continue to work with the Republic of Korea and Japan, taking all necessary measures to deter and protect against any attack by North Korea,” said Frid.
