Artificial intelligence will predict the development of couple relationships

Researchers from the University of southern California have trained a computer algorithm to predict whether there will be lovers together based on their voice characteristics. Details can be found in PLOS ONE.

Specialists for over two years, analyzed the features of voice 134 men and women living in a couple and attending family therapy sessions. The researchers recorded the intonation, pitch and other voice characteristics lovers, when they communicate with each other.

They then trained an algorithm to find the link between characteristics of participants and the end result of their relationship. So the algorithm has learned to predict whether couples will stay together.

At the same time, psychologists have also predicted the development of couple relationships based on the values of love spoken words, body language and other characteristics that the algorithm did not take into account.

The psychologists prediction was correct in 75.6% of cases, the predictions of artificial intelligence — in 79,3% of cases. The best results have been obtained by combining the predictions of computers and psychologists (79.6 percent). According to the authors, artificial intelligence will be able in the future to advise couples to save their relationship.
