The number of recruits in the fall of 2017 in Russia reduced to the tens of thousands compared to the same period last year as a result of manning the Armed forces with contract servicemen. This was stated by first Deputy head of the main organizational-mobilization Directorate of the General staff of the armed forces Yevgeny Burdinsky, the report said the Ministry of defense.
“The significant decrease was the result of recruitment of privates and non-commissioned officers military personnel undergoing military service under the contract,” he said.
Autumn conscription begins on October 1. In the Armed forces, other troops, military formations and bodies will direct 134 thousand people, of which more than 15 thousand have been trained in military specialties in the DOSAAF (Voluntary society of assistance to army, aviation and fleet. — RBC.)
