The U.S. acknowledged the deaths of Afghan civilians as a result of erroneous airstrike

In the airstrike of the U.S. air force on militants Afghan Taliban (banned in Russia) killed civilians. This was reported on the website of the NATO mission “Resolute support” in Facebook.

In a press-service of the mission explained that the U.S. air force conducted an operation against militants who have stepped up their activity in the area of the international airport Hamid Karzai on the outskirts of the capital Kabul. In particular, terrorists fired on the neighborhood with mortars, and also sent a few people with suicide belts.

“One of the rockets malfunctioned, which led to casualties among the civilian population”, — stated in the message. The number of deaths or injured is not specified.

On 27 September it was reported that the Taliban claimed responsibility for the rocket attack in the Afghan capital Kabul. The aim of the attack was the Minister of defence of the USA James Mattis. Tolo News reported about 20-30 rockets fired at the airport and its surroundings, noting that the purpose of the strikes could be a NATO base nearby.
