The state Duma will specify the allowable concentration of drugs in blood of drivers

The state Duma will consider a bill that would allow the government to set the acceptable level of concentration of narcotic or psychotropic substances in the organism of drivers. The document, proposed by Deputy Alexei Juravli placed in the System of ensuring legislative activity.

In the explanatory note to the bill States that up to five percent of the detection of prohibited substances in the organism of drivers associated with using drugs. The majority of cases is not due to a deliberate violation of the law, and long-life elimination of drugs from the body.

For example, Corvalol or Valocordin contain phenobarbital, the duration of excretion which the human body can
to achieve three days. Also the author of the bill drew attention to anesthetic drugs, containing codeine, which can be detected in the blood four days after ingestion.

In the category of risk are drivers taking painkillers, cardiac, antihistamines and other drugs. “A person without special knowledge in the field of biochemistry or pharmacology, you cannot determine the duration of excretion of prohibited substances from your body and therefore runs the risk of being subject to serious administrative punishment for driving a vehicle while intoxicated, even a few days after taking the drug,” — said Zhuravlev.
