Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Washington is not fulfilling its obligations to destroy chemical weapons.
“The United States remains committed to the complete destruction of declared chemical weapons stockpiles until the end of 2023,” — noted in the state Department.
It stressed that “the U.S. government continues to focus on the destruction of the remaining part of the chemical weapons in storage in Pueblo (Colorado) and Richmond (Kentucky)”.
Wednesday, September 27 in Russia was destroyed by the last pounds of chemical warfare agents from the available stocks in the country. Thus, since 1996 the Federal target program completed ahead of schedule, and Russia is 100% fulfilled its obligations under the Convention on the prohibition of chemical weapons, eliminating about 40 thousand tons of toxic substances.
