How did the film
In April 2012, on a press-conferences in Moscow the Director Alexey Uchitel was first told about the plans of shooting the film “Mathilde Kschessinska” the novel of the future Emperor Nicholas II and the Russian prima ballerina. It was reported that the script will be written by American Paul Schrader, but the author made the writer, winner of the “Big book” and “national bestseller” Alexander Terekhov.
In August 2013 the Board of Trustees included the movie “Matilda” in the list of projects which should be given financial support.
814,3 RUB million,including 280 million rubles of state subsidies will amount to the total budget of the film (what part of this amount is made up of non-repayable grants, is not disclosed).
In June 2014, the Studio “Rock” by Alexei Uchitel start shooting. The music for the film recorded the Symphony orchestra of the Mariinsky theatre under Valery Gergiev.
