North Korean authorities secretly tried to arrange talks with analysts associated with Republicans in Washington, trying to understand the US President Donald trump and his “vague message” to the regime of Kim Jong-UN, the newspaper the Washington Post.

As noted, this began before the aggravation of the situation with the DPRK. “Problem number one is trump. They can’t understand it,” — said the source. In this regard, before Pyongyang was challenged to understand American intentions, in the absence of official diplomatic negotiations with the US authorities.

According to the publication, the mission of North Korea in UN-invited Bruce Klingner, a former CIA analyst who is now chief expert of the Heritage Foundation (Heritage Foundation) on North Korea, to visit Pyongyang.

It is noted that this Fund has close connections by trump, but a personal acquaintance with Klingner had not. Klingner, refused the offer. “Although such meetings are useful, but if the regime wants to send a clear message, it needs to speak directly to the US government”, — he said.

The North Korean intermediaries are also addressed to Douglas Paal, who has served as an expert on Asia at the national security Council under US presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush and currently is Vice President for studies at the Carnegie endowment.

Representatives of Pyongyang wanted Paal organized talks between North Korean officials and American experts with ties among Republicans in a neutral place such as Switzerland. Paal, however, rejected the request of North Korea.

On the background of the ongoing DPRK nuclear and missile tests, causing international condemnation and tougher sanctions, escalated the confrontation between Pyongyang and Washington. 8 August, North Korea threatened to go on “physical actions” in response to the adoption by the UN security Council against new sanctions. After that, the Pentagon chief James Mattis threatened North Korea “with the death of the regime and the destruction of the people”.

Later trump, speaking to supporters in Alabama, said that will deal with North Korean leader Kim Jong-UN, whom he contemptuously called “little missile”.
