Named the main danger of returning to Russia fighting in Syria militants

Fighting in Syria fighters from post-Soviet countries, in the case of returning to Russia, will bring with it a powerful charge of destabilization and radicalization. About it in interview to the newspaper “Kommersant” said the Director of the Department of new challenges and threats Ministry of foreign Affairs Ilya Rogachev.

He noted that the danger of the “Islamic state” (IG, an organization banned in Russia) — not only in the number of militants and their equipment, also represents a serious threat propaganda campaign of the terrorists.

Rogachev said that, according to various estimates, in Syria, fought from 20 to 40 thousand foreign fighters, of which almost 10 thousand of them are immigrants from the CIS countries, slightly less than half of them have Russian passports. About five thousand people arrived in the Arab Republic from the countries of Central Asia.

In turn, the Russian defense Ministry reported that as of September 2017, the terrorists released by 87.4 percent of the territory of Syria. These data are presented in the official Gazette of the Ministry, the newspaper “Red star”.

On 14 September it became known that Russia plans in coming days to end fighting with groups supporting militants in Syria. On 12 September, the Russian military, reported on the cleanup of 85 percent of Syrian territory from the militants.
