NATO is trying to return to the cold war, despite Russia’s way of getting rid of the heritage of that period. This was from the rostrum of the UN General Assembly the head of the Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, reports RIA Novosti.
“Over the past quarter century, Russia did much to strengthen confidence and understanding in the world, but has not met the reciprocity with our Western partners, — said the Minister. — NATO seeks to recreate the climate of the cold war and refuses to implement the principle of equal and indivisible security”.
He pointed to the fact that the West has expanded the influence of NATO to the East, using the principle “who is not with us is against us”, thereby provoking instability in the post-Soviet space.
On August 4, the official Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow shares the view of U.S. President Donald trump on “extremely low levels” of relations between the two countries. A day earlier, the us leader laid the responsibility on Congress.
On August 3, the Russian foreign Ministry lamented the fact that the US is slipping into a deeper “primitive ideological cliches” of the cold war that are completely divorced from reality. The imposition of the Balkan countries frankly destructive “either with the West or with Russia” will inevitably lead to increased tension on the European continent, destabilizie the situation in the region and in individual States, stressed the Minister.
