British fighters were late to intercept the Russian aircraft

Aircraft of the British Royal air force Typhoon was scrambled to intercept the aircraft of Russian air force over the North sea. About it reports The Daily Mail.

According to military, fighters took off from air bases Lossiemouth (Scotland) after the radar has detected targets in close airspace in the UK. However, the Russian pilots changed course and the interception did not take place.

The defense Ministry explained that the crew asked Vilnius for this maneuver to bypass the storm front. “After obtaining permission from the aircraft momentarily deviated from the route, and having flown around the dangerous area, immediately returned to the main route,” — noted in the Department.

In late April, it was reported that NATO fighters in the past year rose into the air from bases in Europe 780 times to identify and escort Russian aircraft.
