The police of Bremen arrested a 28-year-old citizen of Russia, which, as expected, fought on the side of the militants of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia). About this reports Deutsche Welle.
According to investigators, the man — a native of Chechnya. Last year the security services to check the information according to which group of Chechens living in Bremen, went to Syria and took part in the fighting on the side of the IG.
Other information about the suspect, the Prosecutor’s office did not provide.
On 1 August it was reported that fighters of the Kurdish militia (YPG) arrested in the North of Syria a few immigrants from Scandinavian countries who fought on the side of the militants. According to the Swedish security police (SAPO), for the last six years to militants in Syria were joined by about 300 people from the Kingdom. Their fate is not known.
Two weeks earlier, during a sweep of Mosul from the last of the militants, Iraqi forces detained 20 of the jihadists. According to the German publication Die Welt, among them was a teenage girl who came to Iraq from Germany, as well as immigrants from Russia, Libya, Turkey, Syria and Canada.
