Geneva plumbing found in the sewers tens of thousands of euros

Swiss prosecutors are trying to figure out why the unknown flushed tens of thousands of euros in the Geneva branch of a financial holding company, UBS Group AG. It is reported Bloomberg.

First banknotes of 500 euros was found several months ago in the bathroom next to the Bank vault. After a few days the bills clogged the toilets at three nearby restaurants. The publication notes that the plumbers about unclogging pipes cost institutions thousands of francs.

Police noticed that many of the bills were cut, presumably with scissors.

“Despite the fact that the destruction of the money in Switzerland is not a crime, we started the investigation because this story must be something”, — said the representative of the Geneva Prosecutor’s office Henry Della Casa, abandoning details. UBS also declined to comment on the incident.

In 2014, it was reported that a resident of Germany flushed about 400 thousand euros that she won the lottery.
