Raul Castro responded to the ultrasound

Washington behind closed doors was a meeting of representatives of the United States and Cuba to discuss inter alia the problem of semi-mystical incidents involving U.S. diplomatic personnel in Havana. At the same time, as reported by AP, having accredited in Havana, the correspondents, the Cuban leader Raul Castro has taken quite unusual for the leadership of his country step. He asked for a private meeting with the US Ambassador in Cuba Geoffrey de Laurentiis, to discuss the mysterious and alarming health situation of American diplomats.

As previously reported by “Kommersant”, the result of external influences, whose source is not installed, Cuba suffered a large number of employees of the U.S. mission. They complained of nausea, dizziness, partial hearing loss and other ailments. According to U.S. media, speech can go about carrying out some kind of “acoustic attack” against the U.S. Embassy in Havana.

The Cuban foreign Ministry repeatedly denied the involvement of the authorities to these incidents. Now us diplomats are astonished that Raul Castro, at first, decided to personally explain to the Ambassador the United States, and second, admitted that he is “very concerned” everything happening.

Formerly the Havana allowed the FBI to inspect areas in which work representatives of the diplomatic mission, which was also an unprecedented event in the history of relations between the two countries.

Presumably, in the spring of this year, FBI agents inspected the Embassy offices and rooms at the Capri hotel, where a frequent stop for American diplomatic representatives. A similar test was conducted and the Federal police of Canada: diplomats from the country also complained of partial hearing loss and a nervous breakdown. However, all these measures yielded nothing.

For the first time American diplomats in Cuba have complained of health problems back in August of last year. However, no response from the Department of state then followed. Two countries in the last months of the presidential term of Barack Obama were active in the negotiation of important treaties in the field of immigration and drug control. But after coming to the White house Donald trump US policy towards Cuba is beginning to tighten. February 17, Washington demanded from Havana to explain what is happening in the U.S. Embassy. In response to what the American media called “acoustic aggression”, the decree of the President of the trump of the country were expelled two Cuban diplomat, the state Department suspected of involvement in the security services.

“Acoustic attack” was temporarily stopped, but after some time resumed. August 21 was the was a new incident, which injured 21 people (previously reported 16 diplomats).

Most of them were sent for examination to the medical center at the University of Miami, however, the results of the tests, the US government has not released, citing their privacy. According surgeon Michael Howe from Georgetown University Washington, DC, “it almost certainly is ultrasound waves that are imperceptible to the human ear”.

In recent days, these incidents began to take a mystical form, like they are taken from horror movies.

As the AP reports, one of the American diplomats staying at the hotel Capri, in the middle of the night was deafened by the terrible sound. He got out of bed, walked a few feet, and the sound stopped. But he had to go to bed, how intolerable to the ear sound is back. Experts in the US suggest that speech can go about using ultrasound carried out remotely, for example, with a laser in a confined space.

As noted in conversation with “Kommersant” living in Miami is known for Cuban opposition leader Carlos Alberto Montaner, “such attacks may make some members of the Cuban intelligence services, unhappy with the rapprochement of their country with the United States under Barack Obama.”

As for the victims of the Canadians, that, in his opinion, the attackers deliberately sought to “confuse the picture”. Mr. Montaner recalled that us officials in Cuba in past years often suffered from attacks: their cars pelted with excrement, smashed them lights, the Cubans got into the apartment, where they lived diplomats, rearranged the furniture and left hate graffiti in the toilets. “And the experience of acoustic attacks the Cubans could borrow from the Soviet secret police,” — said the interlocutor of Kommersant.

Writes in this regard, the online publication Cafe Fuerte, “the Soviet secret service for two decades practiced this kind of sabotage, but the state Department denied them”. This continued until 1976, when Washington was forced to admit the threat. Then about a hundred American diplomats working in Moscow, at the same time complained of nausea, headaches, partial hearing loss.

The situation continues to deteriorate. Five Republican senators sent a letter to the head of the state Department Rex Tillerson demanding the closure of the Cuban Embassy in Washington and send all of its employees. It is unlikely that such a sharp deterioration in relations with the United States in the interests of Cuban leader Raul Castro. He promised that in February of 2018 will leave the highest state post, although it will remain the first Secretary of the Communist party of Cuba.
