In Novosibirsk have restored the damaged monument to Nicholas II
NOVOSIBIRSK, 18 Sep — RIA Novosti. The rector of the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Archpriest Alexander Novopashin has consecrated restored after damage by vandals monument to Emperor Nicholas II and Tsesarevich Alexei, the press center of Novosibirsk Archdiocese of Russian Orthodox Church.
Monument to Nicholas II and Tsarevich Alexei opened on 16 July in Novosibirsk (until 1926 was called Novo-Nikolaevsk) at the Cathedral named after Alexander Nevsky. In the Archdiocese noted that the monument to Nicholas II it was decided to build “pursuant to the recommendation of the Holy Synod” and on the initiative of citizens. A little more than two weeks, on the night of August 1 a local resident with an axe damaged the piece of sculpture. Police he did not explain the reasons for the action, criminal case under article “vandalism”.
“The priest urged the Christians who were present at the consecration of the monument, to pray to the Holy martyrs, to forgive us for our callousness, carelessness, rigidity sins and unwillingness to be corrected, because we were unable to save the Shrine from desecration vandal”, — stated in the message. At the opening of the restored monument was attended by his Creator — the sculptor Oleg Pesotskaya.
