Zurab Sotkilava
Opera singer Zurab Sotkilava died in Moscow. This was reported by General Director of the Bolshoi theatre Vladimir urin, reports TASS on Monday, September 18.
People’s artist of USSR was 80 years old. The time and place of the funeral will be announced later.
“He had a severe illness which he fought until the end,” said urin.
In 2015 the actor was diagnosed with “malignant tumor of the pancreas.”
Sotkilava was born in Sukhumi in 1937. In the 1950s, played in the Tbilisi football team “Dynamo”. In 1959, the football career ended due to injuries. Sotkilava was a soloist of the Bolshoi theatre since 1974.
