Russian submarine hit the “Gauges” on ISIS in Syria

Russian submarines “Great Novgorod” and “Kolpino” struck a cruise missile “Calibre” on the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG banned in Russia) in Syria. This was announced on Thursday, September 14, the Ministry of defense of Russia, RIA Novosti reported.

The ships are in the Eastern part of the Mediterranean sea, the blow was from a submerged position. The objectives have become command posts, communications centers, weapons depots of militants in the areas located to the South-East of the city of Deir ez-Zor.

According to the report, only targets of terrorists fired seven cruise missiles of sea basing. “Range to targets ranged from 500 to 670 kilometers. Objective monitoring data confirmed the defeat of all planned purposes,” — noted in the defense Ministry.

On 12 September the chief of staff of troops of the Russian armed forces in Syria, Lieutenant-General Alexander Lapin stated that the full liberation of the country from insurgents left to MOP up about 15 percent of its territory.

Three days before the advanced troops of the elite units of the Syrian army managed to break through the encirclement of the air base, located near Deir ez-Zor. On 5 September it became known that the Syrian army broke the siege of the city in the past three years were completely surrounded by the terrorists.

On the same day the frigate “Admiral Essen” in the Mediterranean carried out launches of cruise missiles “Caliber” to objects of IG in Deir-ez-Zor. The video was published on the website of the Ministry of defense of Russia.
