The head of VTSIOM reminded Zhirinovsky about the popularity Lavrov the Russians

The Russians believe the head of the Ministry of foreign Affairs (foreign Minister) Sergei Lavrov, one of the main defenders of the autonomy and independence of the country, the proposal of the leader of LDPR Vladimir Zhirinovsky to change it should not be viewed as a PR campaign, said General Director of the Russian center for public opinion studies (VTSIOM) Valery Fedorov.
On Monday, Zhirinovsky proposed to change the foreign Minister, as he considers that Russia should pursue a more muscular foreign policy based on the current international situation.
According to Fyodorov, Lavrov is currently one of the three most popular public figures of Russia, President Vladimir Putin and defence Minister Sergei Shoigu.
“The Russians appreciate foreign policy. It is clear that its main author and the main character is Putin, but Lavrov is perceived as a solid and skillful defender of the policy of autonomy and independence. In a situation of global conflict with the West is a very important figure,” — said Fedorov.
According to the head of the polls, Zhirinovsky’s words are the “statement of electoral nature”, typical of this “active and controversial” candidate.
In may, the poll showed that a politician trusted by the largest number of Russians, it was Putin (49,2%). Next in the ranking was the name of the defense Minister Sergei Shoigu (15.6 percent), Medvedev (15.5 percent), foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov (12.5%) and LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky (12,5%). The study showed that Zhirinovsky don’t trust 26,2% of the respondents.
