Saakashvili believes that the Ukrainian authorities will not be able to prevent its return
TBILISI, 4 September — RIA Novosti, Maggie, Kikaleishvili. Former President of Georgia and former Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili, while in Denmark, reaffirmed the intention to return to Ukraine; he said that the Ukrainian authorities will be hard to deny him entry into the country despite the fact that “on the border mobilized armored vehicles, installed barbed wire.”
He declared it to journalists of the Georgian “Rustavi 2”, while in Denmark. According to the broadcaster, Saakashvili intends to return to Ukraine on 10 September through a border checkpoint “Krakovets”. Earlier, the Border service of Ukraine said that it had stepped up control at all border sections in connection with the Belarusian-Russian exercises “West-2017”, which will begin in Belarus on September 14.
“The Ukrainian government is doing everything to prevent me to get into the country. Tightened border controls on the border mobilized armored vehicles, installed barbed wire. This is absolutely unprecedented. Such tightening was not even the Eastern European countries during the Soviet Union. This happens for the first time in history. These actions mean that they made me very afraid” — Saakashvili said.
