Minsk replied to Kiev on accusations of betrayal from Russia

The foreign Ministry of Belarus has responded to the accusations of Kiev in the betrayal. Earlier the first Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko called the “knife in the back” voting Belarus to the United Nations on the draft resolution on the situation of human rights in the Crimea, sponsored by Ukraine.

Press Secretary of the Belarusian foreign Ministry Dmitry Mironchik said that Minsk did not change position on Ukraine, as the UN vote is irrelevant to the question of the territorial integrity of the country.

“The question of the procedure of consideration of human rights in the UN is a completely different plane and our firm belief, is irrelevant to the topic of territorial integrity of Ukraine”, – said Mironchik RIA Novosti.

The diplomat explained that in Minsk consider the adoption of country resolutions is destructive and unfair, imposed by individual States to promote their own interests, and is a “road to nowhere”.

On the eve of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly adopted a Ukraine paper on human rights in Crimea. The resolution was supported by 73 countries, including USA and most European countries, 76 countries abstained, and 23, among which Belarus, Russia, China, Serbia, Armenia, Cuba, India, Kazakhstan, opposed.

A draft resolution on Crimea Ukraine submitted to the UN on 9 November. In this Kyiv urges Moscow to do everything possible to “put an end to all violations against the inhabitants of Crimea”. The document also stipulates a revision of the ban of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and the assumption on the Peninsula international observers.
