MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. The program of development of the Russian detonation of the engine, which leads NGOs “Energomash”, called “Ifrit”, according to the annual report of the Association.
“The study of the concepts and a demo sample of oxygen-kerosene liquid rocket engine with rotating detonation regime of combustion (“Ifrit”)”, – stated in the document.
Previously reported that NPO “Energomash” this summer, successfully passed the test two full-length detonation of liquid-propellant rocket engines with clean fuel. Experts managed to achieve their performance over several starts. Work on the project will be conducted in 2014.
Detonation engine differs from the conventional liquid propellant rocket engine is that the jet stream is not created just by burning fuel, but by controlled explosions, while the shock wave is twisted in the combustion chamber of the engine. All this ensures less fuel consumption with more power.
