Sergei Lavrov
The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov said that Western countries are ready to fight with a terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG), but at the same time continue to shield the extremists of “Jabhat EN-Nusra” (both organizations are banned in Russia). According to the Minister leads RT Thursday, November 10.
Lavrov reminded that the UN Security Council adopted a statement condemning the actions of ISIS in Iraq’s Mosul, where militants used civilians as human shields, and demanded that they discontinue the practice. “We drew attention of our colleagues to what is absolutely identical is the situation in Eastern Aleppo (Syria), but there bosses are not ISIS, and “al-Nusra”, which are subject to all other armed opposition formations in this part of the city”, — said the Minister.
The head of the Russian foreign Ministry noted that “the Western partners in this situation are not in a hurry to raise their voice against such inhumane practices, and this, again, suggests that IG is the West ready to fight, and “Dzhabhat EN-Nusra” is still a shield”.
On 8 November it became known that retreating from Mosul, the militants forced fifteen hundred families to accompany them. A day earlier, the Iraqi army said that the leader of the “Islamic state” Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi left the besieged city, hiding behind the human shield of 150 families.
In early November it was reported that the extremist militants did not allow civilians to leave the Eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo during the humanitarian pause.
The group “Dzhabhat EN-Nusra” — the Syrian wing “al-Qaeda” — now called “Jabhat Fatah al-sham”.
