Vasilyev said about the need for myths in the history

The Minister of education and science of Russia Olga Vasilyeva said the need of the mythologizing of certain historical characters. This point of view the Minister announced on Monday, November 7, in an interview to “Interfax”.

“No heroes, no heroic image of historical characters is impossible to do. Whether you’re a small person, whether you’re an adult, you must have an ideal to which to strive”, — said Vasilyev.

Answering the question of what direction Vasiliev is in the discussion about the so-called feat of 28 Panfilov, the Minister said that he shared the opinion of his teacher, academician Georgy Kumaneva, who believes “the feat of the Panfilov” a historical fact. “I honor the teachers,” she said.

4 October, the Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky called a total scum those who doubt the feat of 28 Panfilov. He also wrote an article in which he tried to prove the veracity of historical events.

The article Medina, mainly refers to the essay “On the 28 fallen heroes” in the newspaper “Red star” on November 28, 1941. He stressed that while correspondents worked in the thick of things and passed to the editors of the operational information that was known at the time of delivery rooms in print.

316-th infantry division under the command of major General Ivan Panfilov, formed in the Kazakh and Kirghiz SSR, in the beginning of the great Patriotic war participated in defence of Moscow. According to a widely accepted version of events, 16 Nov 1941 28 soldiers of a division have performed the feat during a four-hour battle destroyed 18 enemy tanks.
