Scientists have found that concern about own health is fraught with diseases

Study participants filled out questionnaires in the period from 1997 to 1999. In the same period of time for a doctor to regularly check their physical condition.

Then for the past ten years, the researchers tracked who of the subjects died or were admitted to hospital and for what reasons.

It turned out that the hypochondriacs risk of cardiovascular disease are 73% higher than that of people not inclined to worry too much about their health.

According to one of the research leaders, Dr. Lina Eden Berg, their results illustrate doctors facing dilemma: to convince the patient that the current anxiety had nothing to do with heart disease, knowing that this is anxiety can increase the risk of developing one of them.

“The results of the study prove instead of worrying about your body and to run to the doctor for any problems related to physical health, it is better to consult a doctor for diagnosis and treatment of anxiety disorders”, she said.
