Moscow and Damascus signed an agreement on the deployment of the aviation group of the Russian armed forces on the territory of Syria.

First Russian killed during operations in Syria, was 19-year-old contractor Vadim Kostenko from the village of Grechanaya Balka, Krasnodar Krai.
On the base Hamim soldier was engaged in servicing aircraft. According to the official version of the military, which recognized death Kostenko three days later, he killed himself because of “disorder in a personal relationship with a girl.”
The victim’s relatives, however, questioned the official version and told reporters about the multiple injuries on the body of the contract.
Since then, the Russian defense Ministry officially acknowledged the deaths of 38 military personnel in Syria; the death of several dozen people reported by the media and the relatives, the military does not comment.

The F-16C of the Turkish air force near the border with Syria shot down a missile “air-air” Russian front-line bomber su-24M. The plane was shot down at an altitude of 6000 meters and fell on the territory of the Syrian province of Latakia.
The crew of the bomber ejected, but the crew commander Colonel Oleg Peshkov was murdered upon landing fighters.
During the operation to rescue the second member of the crew, captain Konstantin Muratina, the Syrian rebels have shot down a Russian Mi-8 helicopter, killing the sailor Alexander Pozynich.
The destruction of the aircraft led to a sharp deterioration in Russian-Turkish relations, the normalization only began in June 2016, when President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sent Vladimir Putin the letter in which he expressed condolences to the family of the Russian pilot.
