The Minister of foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif believes that the US is trying not to allow the Syrian government to regain control over the border with Iraq, it is a priority of Washington. He said this, speaking at the Asia Society in new York, reports on Thursday, September 28, RIA Novosti.
He added that the US is even more important than the victory over the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia). Target Iran, he said, differ from American. “We in Syria not to support someone, but to fight terrorists,” said Zarif.
The diplomat added that Russia is committed to political settlement of the situation in Syria. “I spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin, I know he wants to find a peaceful solution for Syria because it serves our interests and their interests,” he said.

In may, trump demanded that Iran immediately cease financial and military support of terrorists and all kinds of militias. According to him, the Iranian authorities provide diverse support to terrorist organizations “from Lebanon to Iraq and Yemen, Tehran has funded, armed and trained terrorists and other extremist groups that sow destruction and chaos in the region. This is a government that speaks openly about the mass killings, calls for the destruction of Israel and the United States.”
