The constitutional court of Russia rejected the complaint of nationalist Alexander Potkin, who insisted on the unconstitutionality of article 282 (“inciting hatred or hostility, and humiliation of human dignity”) of the Criminal code as violating the rights of Russians. “The complaint Potkin pointed out that this article disproportionately restricts the rights of citizens because it allows you to attract any person criminally responsible for expressing an opinion. The constitutional court ruled that article 282 of the criminal code does not contain vague formulations and convicted of the contested norm “cannot be regarded as violating the constitutional right””, he said.
Adamsin said that the court had rejected a similar complaint 20-year-old Eugene Court, who was convicted for the repost caricatures of nationalist Maxim Marcinkiewicz and writer Alexander Pushkin on a social network “Vkontakte”.
“The court indicated that the punishment applied to Potkin, and the Court, substantiated by part 3 of article 55 of the Constitution, according to which the restriction of the rights and freedoms of the citizens allowed to the extent necessary to protect the constitutional order and security of the state,” said adamsin “Interfax”.
