Tatiana Moskalkova

The Commissioner for human rights in Russia Tatiana Moskalkova believes that the report prepared by the office of the UN high Commissioner for human rights, biased reflects the state of Affairs on the Peninsula. Her words “Interfax”.

“I have been in the Crimea, am receiving the Crimean and get them to treatment. Constantly communicate with the commissioners for human rights of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, we are monitoring the situation on the Peninsula and, to be honest, I don’t understand where it came from so-called “facts” about the disregard for human rights in Crimea”, — she said.

Moskalkova regretted that the UN high Commissioner “so unfair and biased assessed the status of human rights in Crimea”.

Earlier on Monday, the office of the UN high Commissioner for human rights prepared a report on human rights violations in the Crimea after joining the Peninsula to Russia. “Were documented serious violations (…), such as illegal arrests and detention, abduction, ill-treatment, torture and at least one case of extrajudicial execution,” the document says.

According to the UN office, such executions were subjected to Pro-Ukrainian activists and Crimean Tatar Reshat Ametov in March 2014, after he spent a single picket in front of the Crimean government in Simferopol. The police of the Republic opened a criminal case, however, to arrest the suspects failed, said the report’s authors. The representatives of the United Nations was considered to be affected by the annexation of Crimea, local civil servants and those who refused or could not accept the Russian citizenship. Their problem is related with the change of legislation from Ukrainian into Russian.
