Future initiatives of peacekeepers in the Donbass depends on the constructive position of Kiev and Washington, said press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov. His words on Monday, September 18, the correspondent “Tapes.ru”.
“It is important not to blur the essence of the Russian proposal to the UN mission,” — said the representative of the Kremlin, noting that the mission would ensure the security of OSCE personnel, who work in Donbass.
Peskov also said that Moscow is committed to its full contribution to finding a solution to the conflict in the South-East of Ukraine.
Earlier on Monday it became known that the possibility of placing security mission in Donbass will be discussed at the meeting of the UN Security Council high-level during the Ministerial week of the session of the General Assembly.
16 September, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that is the proposal of the Russian President Vladimir Putin about the deployment of peacekeepers in the Donbass, however, does not consider that this is sufficient to cancel anti-Russian sanctions.
A week earlier Putin proposed Merkel to place UN peacekeepers not just along the line of differentiation, and “in other places, where the SMM, the OSCE conducts its inspection trip”.
On 5 September Moscow has made to the UN Security Council resolution on peacekeepers. The proposal suggests placing the mission on the demarcation line between the militias of the unrecognized republics and Armed forces of Ukraine.
