The world anti-doping Agency (WADA) has terminated the investigation against 95 Russian athletes from the report of Richard McLaren. This publication reports The New York Times, citing an internal document of the organization.
The Director General of WADA, Olivier Niggli the report says that in 95 cases out of 96 had not been found sufficient evidence of use by the Russians of illegal drugs. The publication does not name the athletes.
The newspaper recalls the words of Niggli, who on Monday accused Russia of “a well-organized system (the machinations of doping approx. Tape.Ru). Years later, the remaining evidence is often very limited,” he said.
September 7 court of arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) overturned the suspension of Olympic champion and Sochi 2014 Alexander passenger cars and other Russian skier Evgenia Belova. The judges considered the Russians to be innocent and agreed that the data from the report of the independent Commission of the world anti-doping Agency (WADA), chaired by canadian lawyer Richard McLaren may not be sufficient grounds for disqualification of athletes.
In 2016 McLaren has published the two parts of the report of the independent Commission on the use of doping Russian athletes. It was reported that thousands of representatives of 30 sports were involved in the manipulation of doping samples at different tournaments, including the Olympic games 2014 in Sochi. McLaren argued that the state knew and supported the functioning of a doping system that hid from the public the doping tests from Russian athletes. In March 2017 at the Symposium, WADA McClaren admitted that he changed his mind, and in the case of Russia, we are not talking about “state”, and the “institutional” system.
