Russia and Turkey have signed a contract to supply s-400

MOSCOW, 12 Sep — RIA Novosti. Moscow and Ankara have reached an agreement for the supply of Russian systems s-400 to Turkey and signed a contract, reported the press service of the Federal service for military-technical cooperation.

“The parties have reached agreements on delivery of s-400 and signed a contract. Russia is ready to implement it,” — said in an official statement.

The details of the agreement are not given because of “specificity and sensitivity of the topics.”

“The priority right to comment on the contract belongs to the customer. It is to be noted that the delivery of this system in Turkey meets the geopolitical interests of the Russian Federation”, — said the Agency.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara made an initial payment for the complexes C-400. Negotiations between Moscow and Ankara for delivery of s-400 was not easy. That the parties almost failed to reach agreement, the press Secretary of the Turkish President Ibrahim Kalin said at the end of July. In August the General Director of “Rosoboronexport” Alexander Mikheyev said that the contract is close to signing, but has not yet entered into force.

As told RIA Novosti Director of the Center for analysis of world arms trade Igor Korotchenko, the contract can be completed within two years. Signing the agreement, he called an important step in the military-technical cooperation between Moscow and Ankara.

S-400 “Triumph”, while not having analogues in the world, designed to defeat air targets, including aircraft and ballistic missiles. The contract for the supply of the complex were also signed with China. In late August, the Federal service for military-technical cooperation stated that he had received about ten applications for s-400.
