The Deputy of legislative Assembly of Sevastopol Alexey Chaly in an article for Rossiyskaya Gazeta wondered how to turn the city into “Patriotic capital of Russia”.
According to the parliamentarian, it is necessary to protect local nature and develop the economy of the region. “[Plus] Federal assistance and personal support of the President. Add to this the dream of Patriotic capital it should be”, — wrote Chaly.
Those who are skeptical about this idea, he recalled how the Sevastopol was rebuilt after the Crimean war and the great Patriotic war. “I am sure that today we can and must find in himself the strength and will”, — concluded the Deputy.
On 18 August the President of Russia Vladimir Putin during the visit to the Crimea expressed the view that in Chersonesos, located in Sebastopol, you need to create a Russian Mecca. “It’s not the fact that Prince Vladimir was baptized, and that afterwards there began the strengthening of the centralized Russian state”, — he explained.
Sevastopol as well as Moscow and St. Petersburg has the status of a city of Federal significance.
